Community guidelines
Last updated September 29, 2026. These apply to the radio, crews and fish reports in the KnotAByte app. By signing in you agree to them and to the Digitier terms.
This is not a marine radio. It needs a data connection and can be delayed or unavailable offshore. For emergencies, use VHF channel 16 or call the Coast Guard.
Be the boat you'd want next to you
- Share what you're seeing: bait, birds, water, fish on the boat. Honest reports help everyone.
- Asking "where are they biting?" is welcome. Nobody owes you their numbers; crews are for that.
- Keep it about fishing, conditions and safety.
Zero tolerance
We don't allow, and will remove without warning:
- Harassment, threats, hate speech or slurs.
- Sexual content, or anything involving minors.
- Spam, scams or selling, and impersonating another boat or person.
- Posting someone else's private numbers or personal information without permission.
- Encouraging illegal fishing: closed areas, MPAs, over-limit catches, or fishing Mexican waters without permits.
How moderation works
- Long-press any message or report to report it or block the boat. Blocking hides that boat from you right away.
- Posts reported by several boats are hidden automatically until reviewed.
- We review reports within 24 hours and remove content or suspend accounts that break these rules.
Positions
In public channels, other boats see an approximate position ("near the 181", or about a 2 nm area). Exact positions are shown only to you and to members of a crew you post in. Anyone in a crew can share what they see, so only invite boats you trust.
